"Was very good but a month later broken" 2010-10-19

I got this vacuum in September and now in october the drive belt is broken. I only have ONE bedroom carpeted in my whole house...and it is vacuumed every other day. The drive belt broke with only one moth's use. Even though the people at Bisselll say I have a 3 year warranty, this drive belt is a service fee and purchase fee to replace. I finally talked them into sending me a complimentary drive belt that I will install myself accoring to their troubleshooting guide.

Needless to say I am hoping this is NOT a bad sign of overall poor quality workmanship.

It worked great...for 4 weeks ;O(

I do not recommend this product. The suction on it leaves much to be desired. When you bump into something while using it a bunch of stuff falls out and you have to go over it another 5 - 10 times to pick it all back up again. I have cleaned all the filters and then got everything out of the chamber that catches the dirt and still its not picking up very small debris that most other vacuum cleaners do easily. You end up taking twice the amount of time vacuuming at least.

This seems like it should be a good product but don't be fooled. It will disappoint

I purchased the Bissell Bagless Pet hair Eraser in July 2008. Since then it has been a constant struggle to get it to work effectively. I own a Greyhound and a medium-hair cat, so it is not as if I have a houseful of animals. From the first time I used this machine, the outside was coated with dander and dust requiring I wipe it down every time with a damp cloth. Within the first four months of use, I had to take it to the service center twice for loss of suction; each time I was told there was nothing wrong with it. The suction has never been adequate to run the attachments that come with it. The top canister plugs up and the dirt dos not drop to the bottom canister, necessitating I dig the hair, etc. out from the top canister with a screwdriver every 10 minutes or so. The belt had to be replaced after about a year (that is normal I suppose) and even though it has been replaced with a Bissell factory belt, it comes off about every three uses. I have arthritis so replacing it each time is painful. I am so angry with the manufacturer of this product that rather than put the vacuum in the Goodwill (where perhaps some genius can get it to work properly) I have tossed it out with the trash. I will never buy a Bissell product again!

I bought one of these from Target or Walmart. It didn't pick up pet hair any better than a regular vacuum, with any of its attachments or settings. After I had used it a couple times, it did not pick up pet hair at all anymore, and was useless.

What a total waste of money for me.

I saved for months to buy this vacuum cleaner, I am the mother of twin 2 year olds, a teenage son, and a very furry Akita. I loved this the first time I used it, which is the ONLY time it worked!! It's constantly clogged, although I take the entire thing apart each time looking for the clog, I have yet to find it. The ridiculous attachments not only don't work at all, they won't stay in place on the vacuum itself, the hose CONSTANTLY comes loose and poofs dirt back out all over the place, you can't get anywhere near the edges of walls or furniture edges because of the way the front end is made, and forget just catching those areas with the hose attachment because it has NO SUCTION power whatsoever. I seriously long for my old college $40 vacuum.

To make matters worse, I purchased the stupid thing at Target, and as we all know, they won't return ANYTHING without a receipt, so, I'm completely screwed.

DO NOT BUY THIS VACUUM!!!!!!!!!

I really like this vaccum cleaner. It is comparable in performance to my roomates' $400 one that I used at my old apartment. It has great succion for the carpet, but it is somewhat disspointing when vaccuming tile floors. Great value purchase though.

I can't say anything truly negative about this vacuum. I'm a guy, and I don't like to clean, but this makes it easy because it works well and allows me to work fast and not end up with a spotty job. Picks up pet hair with ease. It's well balanced and easy to move. It may just be me, but I get the cord tangled with the hose a lot after using attachments. That's the only negative thing I can think of.

Our last Bissell lasted us over 5 years (and only died bc i accidentally sucked up some water) so we're hoping for the same good life from this one.

"Started out good, but soon became useless" 2010-09-04

I've had a Bissell Momentum vacuum that I bought from Costco for a couple years. At first it picked up everything, and I thought it was much better than my previous bagged vacuum cleaner. Somehow a bunch of dog hair began to clog up the machine, which I carefully removed, but the suction was still poor due to the filters getting dirty very quickly. With a statement like that you'd think I was breeding dogs in the house or something, but I only have one medium sized lab/beagle, and she doesn't shed all that much. So, I spent some more money on a new HEPA filter, and things were working for a while again.

Not much later, the vacuum starts leaving a trail of dirt and hair, and the roller stops rotating when I push it forward. Besides being underpowered, it seems as though the carpet level dial no longer works, and the roller is dragging on the floor.

Unfortunately Bissell only covers it for one year. Maybe I can purchase replacement parts from them, but at that point I might as well buy a whole new one.

I'm starting to look at commercial grade vacuums. They're ugly, expensive, and use bags, but they seem like they would last much longer.

i bought this vacuum for the clubhouse at our condo. the week before it came i vacuumed and steam cleaned my carpet within an inch of its life. when the Bissell came i put it together and gave it a trail run. it pulled up an unbelievable amount of stuff. we got rid of the Miele and got one of these for our home.

I purchased this vacuum within the last few months. I use it almost everyday. I was at first very impressed! I own a cat and a dog so hair was my main issue! The pet attachment is awesome and works wonderfully! Well that was until the hose broke. I noticed a weird noise and realized the hose had a small tear in it which of course became bigger untill it finally broke free from its main attactment. I tried to reattach the hose but was unsuccessful. The actual vacuum is ok. It was easy to put together and very easy to empty. It picks up a decent amount of smaller dust and what not but if there's something on the floor like a thread, noticable hair, a small piece of paper, etc. the vacuum wont pick it up! Even after running over it several times it just wont get it! I do love the pet attachment but now I'm unable to use it :( So basically I should have just saved my money and got a better vacuum....

"Great bagless vacuum w. on-board attachments" 2010-10-13

I've had this vacuum for about a year now, replacing my bagged 12 amp Dirt Devil when it died, slayed by my long hair. I shed quite a bit, and the poor Dirt Devil's motor and brushes were no match for my hair's ability to clog the brushes and muck up the works.

Enter the Bissell Cleanview Helix. It does a great job, and between two filters and the main debris canister, gets a ton of stuff. I love the on-board attachments--they all work well--and the ability to adjust the main vacuum brush to the floor surface (it has about five settings depending on how high your carpet nap is, including a bare floor setting, perfect for my 6 square feet of kitchen tile.

Cleaning the top filter is super-simple and can be done in less than a minute, but the bottom one takes a bit more work--all of five minutes. Oh, life is hard. Minus one star for the allergy-triggering that happens when I empty & clean the vac filters.

I am never buying a bagless vacuum again. Every time I use this thing I have to spend a half hour emptying the canister and cleaning out all the filters or it totally loses suction. I am ordering a Hoover Tempo Widepath Upright Vacuum, Bagged and getting rid of this.

"Wonderful Vacuum for the Price" 2010-10-08

Gosh some people are way too critical over a bottom of the line vacuum. For $60 it is a steal. A $500 Dyson may give you a more enjoyable vacuum experience if that's what you're into, but this vacuum works great when it comes to cleaning. Also the mini spin brush attachment works amazing on my microfiber couch to get off the cathair.

I have 1 cat, I vacuum once a week, empty the canister after every use, and clean the filters every 2 or 3 uses. Still cleans as well as the day it was new and just as good as our last $250 hoover.

The only criticism I can give it:

A. It takes some effort to push on plush carpets, even at the correct height setting. Weak women will whine about it but hey, its just a good workout!

B. Beater brush doesn't stop spinning when you are using attachments. Kinda annoying, but hey you are paying $60 get over it and tilt the vacuum so it doesnt hurt your carpet.

Also for those people complaining that their brush stopped spinning, you probably vacuumed up a curtain or shirt and broke the rubber belt. Buy another one for $2 and replace it in 3 minutes instead of whining about Bissell's warranty, no vacuum company covers belts.

I am afraid I wasted my money on this terrible machine which is upsetting because money is tight. Do not buy this vacuum!!! Spend a little more money on something of better quality and in the long run you will save time, money and your health will not be harmed by the masses of dust that goes flying into the air when this machine is used. I would not even call it a vacuum because the suction quality is so absolutely poor. I get done vauuming and don't even feel like I have vacuumed anything as there is still plenty of dust on the carpet that has now just been spread around, plus I still have 20 minutes of backtracking cleaning up dog hair thats been rolled into little balls a nd left scattered around the floor. Go ahead, try to clean it out to see if it will work better, it won't and because there is no use of bags in this vacuum you run the risk of a dust heap flying up into your face. I've had issues with weezing and chest problems after cleaning this vacuum. I live in the country so it can get a little dirty and dusty and my god this thing is just crap. The outside of it collects dusts like you've never seen, its filthy within a few days after dusting it. Stay away!!! Spend your money on something worth while, not this loathsome pile of trash.

The best part of this product is the price. Beyond that it is just ok. I'm not sure the vaccuum is powerful enough for carpets. I found that it required multiple passes. Also if you use the vaccum cleaner at an angle, it makes a strange noise. It's somewhat heavy and therefore not suitable for elderly people. Cleaning the stairs with this is a pain. I would return this vacuum cleaner except it takes too much effort to pack it up and pay for return shipping.

This is one of the lowest-priced bagless upright HEPA vacuums available on the market. In the 2 months since first using this vacuum, I have have been very pleased with its performance. It's very good at picking up stuff in my carpet. The only nitpicks I have are that the dirt cup is small compared to other vacuums I have owned/used, and emptying it requires exposing the lower filter to some debris dropping down into it. Other than that, this Bissell is reasonably powerful, easy to use, easy to assemble, and reliable. The furniture brush works well. For the money, this vacuum is hard to beat. It is an excellent value and well worth your consideration.

This vacuum is great! It took less than 5 minutes to assemble. And it worked MUCH better than I expected it to. I almost got wrapped up in the vacuum cleaner hype. The more expensive it is, the better it is...or so "they" say.

I went to the store with intentions of buying the Shark Navigator ($200) because of the great reviews on Amazon. But I wanted a "turbo brush" type of attachment because I think that is the best tool for getting pet hair off of furniture. Shark Navigator didn't have the turbo brush so I went with this one instead.

My BLACK cat likes to lay on a WHITE pillow that sits on my bed, which I have since let him have lol. Well this thing got pretty much all of the cat hair off of the pillow. It went from being gray to being white again! And don't get me started about all of the dirt I was able to get off of the floor!

I have a friend that has a Bissell Pet Hair Eraser that he thought was awesome, but this is basically the same vacuum with one less attachment (which I don't think you'll miss) and it costs almost half as much. Save your money and BUY THIS VACUUM!!!

Pros:

-Turbo brush attachment is great for pet hair.

-Not too heavy (I'm pretty petite and I could carry this up the stairs if I needed to)

-Can't beat the price!

-Canister is easy to empty

Cons:

-I didn't really want to have to replace filters but the filter only costs about $5 so that's reasonable.

After reading a lot of reviews, doing some extensive price comparisons, I decided to give this vacuum a try from Amazon. Now that I've used it for almost three months, I can say that I did very well.

Out of the box, and in two minutes it was ready to role. I was shocked to see the mount of dirt accumulated from my two carpeted rooms. This thing is so powerful and it really sucked the dirt out of the carpet. It has the furniture attachment which also works great. Noise level is a little more that I like, but I've seen much worst. It has a super easy to empty dirt container. I have yet to change the filter, but I can tell it is also an easy task. For the price, this is unbeatable.

Before I go any further, if you are considering buying this vacuum, DO IT!

It's a powerhouse, it has a ton of attachments that will impress you (like a mini bristle-rotating turbo brush that will be great for stairs, rugs, etc), and it's light weight will encourage you to use it EVERYWHERE. Also, I love that it's bagless, and that I can see right through to how much shmutz I've collected. It gives you a sense of accomplishment ;)

The only downside is that is consumes a lot of power. Which produces a LOT of heat. I don't recommend using it while wearing a jacket, because you'll roast. Also, I have blown fuses and had to run to the garage more than once, but that's the price you pay for such a powerful product.
