Have had this vac for about month and a half now. Very powerful, good suction,light, and a little quieter than our old eureeka. Doesn't look fancy..actually looks kinda cheap. But it seems solid and performs.You can't go wrong for $68. Consumer reports best buy as well.

i looked around while deciding what vacuum to buy. After reading the reviews and the Consumer Reports review, I figured this was worth a shot--I was NOT disappointed. This vacuum works just as well as those 4 times the price, and I am very happy with the purchase. Definitely recommended!

We purchased this vacuum TWICE and are sorry we wasted our money! The first one worked very well the first year and then, suddenly, it lost suction and just started blowing all the debris on the ground all over the floor as we tried to vacuum. Figuring it may have been a fluke and considering that it did work so well at first AND that it was a nice, reasonable price, we purchased another. After about 6 months we now have the EXACT same problem! This may be at a great price, but paying this price x 2 over a year or so adds up to $150/year, and then $300/2 years. Not so reasonable now...

I want to add that if I had written this review a month or so after getting it, it would have rated 4-5 stars, however in my opinion, lightning doesn't strike twice, so I would advise not purchasing this vacuum if you want it to last at least a year, and you do moderate vacuuming (I must sadly admit, I vacuum only a few rooms a month, so this vacuum did not withstand any vigorous use).

This vacuum works great, especially for the price. I am all for seaching for a good deal for a good product without spending a lot of money! I think everyone needs to practice this concept! I think it is crazy that you actually could pay up to 600.00 for a vacuum!!! Seriously?? That could be an all-inclusive weekend trip to Cozumel! LOL

The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it doesn't work great on hard surfaces but does do great on carpet, which is where I really needed it most. All in all, I reccommend it!

We purchased this vacucum a little over a year ago. We had new carpet put in and I was impressed by how much fuzz it picked up. It seems to get a good amount of dirt as well. The only down side I found is the size of the bag. It fills up very quickly. I use my vaccum every other day and I have to change the bag once a month. However, I feel like it is cleaning really well, so I can live with purchasing the extra bags. I think this is a good vaccum for the price and I would buy it again.

I had low expectations with this inexpensive vacuum but I purchased it due to the low price, free shipping and the great Amazon reviews. We have had it for a year and it works much better than my old vacuum from Sears that cost $250. I tried a Dyson at one point but it was so bulky, difficult to clean my car with and expensive that I returned it to Sears. That was a total waste of money. This vacuum is relatively light and has great sucking power and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. It is totally sufficent and it costs what a vacuum should cost.

Like several others, I purchased this vacuum after reading all the positive reviews. For the most part, I agree with them. This is a fantastic vacuum cleaner that's a superior value. Unfortunately, the unit I purchased broke down after 20 months. I'm tempted to buy another one since it worked so well for those 20 months and the price is still a relative steal. That said, I will be mindful of the durability. While there's only so much you can expect for less than $70, I was hoping that my product would last at least three years.

Bottom line: brilliant when it worked and a tremendous value, but I worry about the durability.

This product came packaged just like it would if you bought in the store. The blue front cover came broken and would not fit over vacuum bag. I have to return the complete vacuum cleaner and wait for my money. I am very unhappy with this purchase and the problems that came with it. Why was this product not packaged better. Why must I return the whole product why cant they just send me blue cover I have to take product apart because I had it put together before I realized this part broken last purchase from amazon.

We picked this up after reading that this was recommended by Consumer Reports. It works way better than my old vacuum and is not that much louder than the old one either. If you've researched this at other places like I did, you may see that it comes with a check bag indicator...well, it doesn't. I expected a check bag indicator and called Hoover when the vacuum arrived without one. The Hoover rep said that the newer models don't have an indicator. This vacuum has the switch on the body, I never realized how convenient the foot switch was until I got this. I usually have a baby in one arm so a foot switch would be more convenient.

This is not the product you think it is. The picture and schematic for this item are both WRONG. Hoover has changed the product but left the model number the same. The new revised unit is not the same old beloved vacuum to which all the reviews prior to 2010 are referring. This version is a cheap imitation of the former. This "revised" model features:

- NO Headlight

- NO Bag Indicator

- NO hose coupling dust cover

- CHEAPER plastic

- CHEAPER carpet brush

- CHEAPER hose

- SHODDIER construction

- INCORRECT user manual

It still has the same amount of suction but because of the cheaper brush it doesn't really get down into the carpet like the old one. It just glides on top over the carpet. The cheaper hose is a real problem, because if you ever suffer the misfortune of kinking the hose once you will never get it un-kinked again. The lack of headlight is not a big deal, but the picture shows it has one and some people may need this feature. The missing bag indicator means you have to keep stopping and checking the bag to see if it's full. The plastic parts are made from a cheaper flimsy plastic. This makes the unit lightweight but it also means not everything fits together properly, for instance several of the attachments are misshapen. The old unit used to have a dust cover so when you used the hose it would not spew dust into the room (because the brush keeps turning). The "revised" model has no dust cover so you better get ready for a face full of dirt if you pull the hose out over a dusty area. The general construction of the unit is sub-par compared to the old version. In fact, the user manual is still from the old version, meaning the assembly instructions are incorrect for the revised version. You will have to figure out for yourself where to route the power cord on the rear of the chassis.

The vacuum does still work, has strong suction, and works well on carpet if you put it on the lowest height and really dig into the carpet. But you can probably find something better for your money. And Amazon should update their product photos!

My mother-in-law is in her 80's so I try to help out where I can. A while back I offered to vacuum her place. She had a bagless dirt devil that she was unable to use due to limited mobility in one of her hands. The cup that held the dirt was even hard for me to change without significant effort. We bought her the Hoover Tempo U5140-900 upright and solved her problem. Yes, she again has to change a bag once in a while, but at least she can use it. It is light weight and easy to use. The price was very economical too. She has regained a little measure of independence.

I got this vacuum to replace my bagless. I hated emptying the container and getting dust everywhere. Not to mention having to clean the filters. None of that with this vacuum! I love this vacuum, although it does have a few flaws:

Pros:

THE SUCTION! It is just awesome. I put it on the lowest setting (as recommended in the instructions) and when I turned it on, the vacuum literally took off! I was holding the handle and had to catch up to the vacuum because it seemed self propelled! Very impressed! It's nice that I can now feel comfortable letting my 5 month old play on the floor without having to first put a blanket down.

The tools are easily accessible and easy to use. The suction isn't sacrificed when using the tools either. When I was vacuuming out my sofa and loveseat, it felt like I was using one of those car wash vacuums (the good, strong ones). I was very impressed with this as well.

The vacuum is not too heavy. Granted, it's not an 8lb Oreck, but it's not a 40lb monster either. I had no problem carrying it and found that it weighed pretty much the same as my previous bagless.

No dusty smell when vacuuming. I used to think that the smell that showed up when I turned on a vacuum was just how vacuums were supposed to smell. I didn't know that I was actually smelling (and breathing in!) the dust and other nastiness that my vacuum was blowing back into the air. With this vacuum, there's no smell!

Cons:

The cord is just a bit short. Not too bad, but another 5ft would have been perfect.

No full bag indicator. You have to do the "squish test"

Hose is a bit short, didn't seem to stretch much.

There are also a couple things to mention, but I wouldn't really list them as a con. The hook to secure the cord while vacuuming isn't well made as the cord can't fit in very well. I damaged the outer part of my cord trying to force it in, so I wouldn't recommend using it. The vacuum also does not have a light, as shown in the picture (at least the one I got didn't), but this doesn't bother me. I never really understood what the light was for anyway. Doesn't everyone usually turn the light on when they vacuum anyway? I'm not sure if this would be a bad thing to some (I think it' a good thing), but I've used the vacuum about 10 times (give or take) and the bag is FULL. I think this is an indicator of how awful my bagless was. The bag isn't small or anything, it just pulled up a ton of stuff my bagless missed. I've purchased some new bags and once they are in, I will see how long those last. I'm not sure if I'd be upset if those filled up fast though, as that just means that much stuff is off my floor and once again would be an indicator of how awesome this vacuum is.

All in all, I would highly recommend this vacuum. The cons of this vacuum are easily outweighed by its cleaning power alone. I will never buy a bagless vacuum again and hope to have this vacuum for years to come.

I bought this three years ago so that we wouldn't need to drag our excellent but heavy Windtunnel up the steps. I have used it a total of maybe 20 times. It is fine on the rugs, but not nearly as good on bare floors as the Windtunnel. The biggest problem is that it emits a high-pitched whine under the usual vacuum noise. Both my husband and I find it painful to listen to. We have now relegated it to the basement, for very occasional use.

I bought this vacumn a few months ago and am very dissatified. It constantly clogs to the point that one room cannot be completed without stopping to unclog hose. The cord tangles and is very difficult to use and impossible to wind up nicely. I have actually bought this one 2x. We left it running on the cord and the cord got damaged but it still worked. Didn't seem safe so we bought the same one again. I think it's a great machine and I would never go back to a cyclonic vacuum. Seems like less dust in the air with bagged. The price was right and it does the job well.

I received this lightweight vacuum cleaner last week, and was surprized at how powerful it is....while vacuuming, there was a paper clip about 5 inches away, on the side of the unit...and I saw the suction slowly moving it towards the unit! (I scooped the clip up quickly as don't want to feed that to the vacuum!) It does not have a "headlight" or any cleaning tools but the wand attachment, which is all I needed. I just ordered another one for the upstairs, it is great on pet hair, I have 2 little dogs and 6 kitties, and vacuum almost daily.

I had this vacuum cleaner for a few months before I realized it was doing an absoluttely horrible job. I went to vacuum some kitty litter up on the hardwood floor, and I happened to be bare footed, I felt a TON of kitty litter come shooting out the back side of the vacuum and it was pelting me in the legs...during the winter I hadn't noticed it was doing this because I had been wearing long pants and never felt the dirt, etc...come flying out the back hitting my legs! So...you might *think* it is vacuuming up the dirt, because the floor looks clean, until you realize that it has scattered the dirt everywhere out the back of the vacuum. This vacuum is useless for me with mostly hardwood floors...it works great on carpet, but forget hardwood. Same thing just happened with trying to vacuum up the Christmas tree needles...it threw them out the back of the vacuum--all over the place. I had to resort to using the hose to pick up the needles! After only owning this for 9 months, I'm giving up and getting something else.
